What is Life Casting?

This is unique to other arts. A life casting captures the human body like no other medium. A mould is taken from any part of a persons body. And because they are three dimensional means that they can be touched and viewed from all angles, unlike a photograph or painting.

This is created through moulding directly from the body, then using casting techniques to produce the final sculpture. A life casting captures the body in its natural form. Each life casting is unique in the same way each persons body is unique. By taking a mould directly from the body, the shape, all details and expressions of the person are captured. The process

It is important you are comfortable in your pose, once this is accomplished and oils are applied most moulds take approximately 20 minuets to complete and remove. The products used are non-toxic and if it is your first time having a life casting a skin test is applied prior to the casting. Moulding is the most important part, because it is from this mould in which the final life casting sculpture is created. Once the mould is removed, it is then taken away to be prepped and poured with the cast material. After the casting has taken place the mould is destroyed, ensuring the uniqueness of the finished sculpture. The life casting is cast, then the sculpture is hand finished. It is then left to dry before sealing is completed, finishing the piece ready for collection or delivery in 3-4 weeks . You will be guided through every step of the procedure for your own safety.
